A CrossFit group class is a structured, coached workout that involves a combination of various functional movements performed at high intensity. It includes warm up, and a combination of barbell movements, gymnastics and metabolic conditioning movements.
The class begins with a dynamic warm-up to increase the heart rate & mobility, and prepare the body for the workout ahead. Throughout the class, the coach provides guidance, instructions, and demonstrations to ensure that participants perform movements safely and effectively. They will offer modifications or scaling options to each individual's abilities and goals.
Some classes may include a specific skill or strength component where participants work on improving a particular movement or lift. This could involve practicing techniques for barbell lifts, gymnastics, or accessory movements.
Generally this is our Metcon (metabolic conditioning) portion of the class. In other words… This is where you sweat!
The WOD is a high-intensity workout that typically incorporates a mix of exercises such as weightlifting, cardio, bodyweight movements, and functional training. The WOD is scalable to accommodate participants of different fitness levels, allowing everyone to participate and challenge themselves at their own pace.
One of the key aspects of CrossFit is the sense of community and support. Participants often encourage and motivate each other to push their limits and achieve their best performance during the workout. CFK emphasizes building a strong community among our members. This often involves social interactions after every WOD with a round of high fist bumps, themed workout events, and activities outside of class hours to foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among our members.
