We invite everyone in the CrossFit community to join us on October 1st as we remember Paul on what would have been his 33rd birthday. We couldn’t think of a better way to honor him than by creating and doing the Paul T. Memorial WOD.
20 min AMRAP
5 snatch 135/95
Coaches’ Notes: Today’s conditioning piece is quite a challenging triplet of Snatches, C2B pull ups, and burpees to spike the heart rate. Make sure to scale accordingly to keep the stimulus of consistent movement throughout.
Score: Time to complete “Paul T”
Paul Terelya, 32, was a CrossFit Kitchener coach who lost his fight to colon cancer on July 24, 2017. He was devoted to his CrossFit Kitchener family, helping them become stronger, fitter and faster each day.
Paul’s expertise was broad, although he loved Olympic Lifting the most (the snatch being is his favourite lift). Certified in weightlifting, he coached two specialized lifting classes weekly on top of his usual CrossFit classes. He was known for his keen ability to deconstruct an athlete’s movement and always knew the right way to get his knowledge across so the athlete could instantly improve.
Paul was a kind and compassionate man: he volunteered for years as a coach for the Special Olympics Lifting Team and was always ready to help others. A former CrossFit Regional competitor, he found great joy in his CrossFit world, especially since it was at CrossFit Kitchener that he met the love of his life, Sandy.
