Team/Group Training

Start your season off right with a CrossFit strength and conditioning program! No matter what your sport is most of us start with 2-3 weekly practices to prepare for a long tough season. It is barely enough to get the bugs out let alone get you fit enough for what you put your body through on a weekly basis. If you are doing any strength and conditioning, it is usually something that you are familiar with, or a variation of isolation exercises that target the muscles used for your sport. This is a recipe for disaster! When we do nothing but speciality training for our sport, we create imbalances in our bodies that lead us from one injury to the next. The advice of most coaches would be to strengthen the same overused muscles with exercises that were created for bodybuilders and you become tighter and even more unbalanced. When you kick a soccer ball do you use just your quad? Or when you shoot a puck do you use just your wrist? No, you use your entire body starting from your core, so why don’t you train your body this way?!

CrossFit is a generalist program, so we leave no stones unturned. We break fitness down into 10 different domains: 1-strength, 2- flexibility, 3- cardiovascular endurance, 4- stamina, 5- speed, 6- power, 7- accuracy, 8- balance, 9- coordination, 10- agility. It is our belief that the ultimate athlete is competent in all 10 of the domains. Although it is difficult to be equally competent in all 10 domains, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, it is possible to train in all 10 domains and put extra focus on our weaknesses.

Our program consists of weightlifting (mainly power lifting and olympic lifting), basic gymnastics (pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, rope climbs, ring dips etc.) and monostructural metabolic conditioning (aka cardio, running, rowing, skipping). We take these functional movements and mix them up in as many variations as possible to create our high intensity workouts. Everything we do are core to extremity movements. We are training our neuromuscular system so basically training our muscles to work together instead of against each other.

We offer team and group training whether it’s a single session or a 16 week training program. We will focus on your needs for your sport, the possible weaknesses or imbalances that you have created from  years of speciality training and turn you into a well-rounded athlete!

If you and your team are interested in group training, please contact Joanne at joanne@crossfitkitchener.com for pricing and times. Pricing depends on class sizes.

Hi! My son did some training at your facility over the summer with the Activa Sportsplex hockey trainging group. He absolutely loved it! I am interested in having his hockey team do some training at your facility, I just need some details and pricing to send along to the coaching staff. The boys are 11 years old.
Also, what do you have available for training for my son, if he were to do some workouts there?

    Thank-you.
